Land Rover Concept Hints at Production Defender Due in 2015

The auto maker confirms it will launch a new Defender in 2015 globally, although no decision has been made on whether it will come to North America.

Jaguar Land Rover will unveil the Land Rover DC100 at next month’s Frankfurt auto show, a concept the auto maker describes as a “modern interpretation of the iconic Land Rover Defender.”

Gerry McGovern, director of design, says replacing the Defender is “one of the biggest challenges in the automotive design world.”

He says the concept is not production-ready but rather is the beginning of a “4-year journey to design a relevant Defender for the 21st century.”
