and the Jetsons.”
If you have watched the two children’s cartoons, you know that the Flintstones are a bunch of cavemen who push boulders around. George Jetson, on the other hand, zooms to work in his flying space car and then sits at his desk repeatedly pushing a single button or, on occasion, a series of buttons on a computer named RUDI (short for Referential Universal Digital Indexer.)
The creators of the 1960s cartoon had vivid and almost prophetic imaginations. Comparing today’s automotive parts industry to what it was 10 years ago is like comparing George, with his feet up on his desk and letting RUDI do all the work, to using a stone tablet, hammer and chisel to manually track “boulder” production.
