A joint effort between Advanced Elastomer Systems (AES) and GEPOC Verfahrenstechnick GmbH has yielded a robotic extrusion technology that enables soft thermoplastic elastomer profiles to be extruded onto or around rigid substrates. Recently commercially introduced in Europe for an automotive belly-pan application, the process is expected to immediately gain momentum. "We envision near-future automotive applications to include engine encapsulation parts, sunroof profiles and edged protection of metal parts." says Mark Wright, director of automotive sales for AES.
