NEW YORK – Touting its capabilities and fuel-saving systems, Chrysler debuts the ’13 Ram 1500 fullsize pickup truck at the auto show here.

The truck is powered by a 3.6L Pentastar V-6 engine that has been a Ward’s 10 Best Engines winner for the last two years.

The auto maker cites a series of first-in-segment technologies, such as an 8-speed automatic transmission; stop/start; thermal management systems; pulse-width modulation; and active aerodynamics, including grille shutters and air suspension.

“The new 2013 Ram 1500 is the most capable, best-looking half-ton pickup in the world and delivers best-in-class fuel efficiency, new technology and new features while upgrading the interior and exterior,” says Fred Diaz, president and CEO of the Ram brand.

“We changed every area of the truck.”

He also says the Ram 1500 offers “best-in-class towing and payload, best-in-class ride and handling and best-in-class aerodynamics.”
