Rolls Wraith to Break Cover at Geneva Show
The new model will be positioned at the top of the Phantom lineup and features a more modern design some say may polarize opinion.
Rolls-Royce will celebrate its 10th year under BMW ownership and the launch of its first Phantom model of the third millennium with a new top-of-the-line addition to its range at the Geneva auto show in March.
The new high-end sedan is to be called the Wraith, a name first used in 1938. The auto maker says the badge evokes “the pioneering spirit and lust for adventure that drove the company the past century.”
Those who have seen the car say its design is shockingly modern and may polarize opinion.
Rolls released a photo showing a silhouette of the sedan, which indicates the classic 3-box limousine body style has been abandoned in favor of a fastback appearance. But it maintains an opulent hood, under which will be a redesigned Twin Turbo V-12 of unprecedented torque and horsepower.
Whereas the overall exterior design is bold and modern, many details inside and out are said to preserve a fair amount of Rolls-Royce Wraith design heritage.
