Thailand Exports Vehicles at Record Levels in June

Besides achieving its best-ever export tally in June, industrywide production reached a 50-year high in the month.

Thai vehicle exports set an industry record in June with a 25.2% year-on-year increase to 94,727 units.

The Federation of Thai Industries says it was the best performance since the country began exporting vehicles in 1988.

The Bangkok Post reports the value of last month’s shipments jumped 38% to TB46.3 billion ($1.46 billion).

Federation Automotive Industry Club spokesman Surapong Paisitpattanapong says vehicle production in June was at a 50-year high of 205,600 units.

Surapong says production capacity for the July-September period is estimated to be up 7.6% from the previous quarter to 600,920 units and 26.6% higher than like-2011’s 474,628.
