The 2022 Infiniti QX50 arriving this month in U.S. showrooms will offer wireless Apple Car Play and ProPilot Assist technology as standard on all grades of the midsize CUV.

Priced starting at $39,000, the 5-passenger QX50 is available in five grades – Pure, Luxe, Essential, Sensory and Autograph – with standard front-wheel drive or, for an additional $2,000, Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.

All models are powered by Nissan’s 2.0L variable-compression turbocharged (VCT) inline-4, winner of a Wards 10 Best Engines and Propulsion Systems award and producing 268 hp. The VCT also makes 280 lb.-ft. (380 Nm) of torque and returns up to 26 mpg (9.0 L/100 km) combined. The QX50’s engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission.

All grades of the ’22 QX50 also include a Type-C USB charge port for rear passengers, rear door-activated Intelligent Key entry, LED welcome lights on the rear door handles and auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Other standard equipment beginning on Luxe models includes auto-folding heated outside mirrors, 4-way driver power lumbar adjustment and leather-appointed, perforated seats. An updated Appearance Package costing $1,200 adds 20-in. wheels and black exterior accents. Newly standard on Essential models, which start at $46,800, are a 16-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system, climate-controlled front seats and a heated steering wheel.

The Sensory trim level adds semi-aniline leather-appointed perforated seats, heated second-row outboard seats, Ultrasuede interior accents and 4-way passenger power lumbar adjustment. The Autograph model starts at $56,950 and features tri-zone automatic climate control, enhanced interior ambient lighting, advanced climate control system and natural open-pore maple wood accents. Both Sensory and Autograph trims include a motion-activated liftgate.

Inside, the ’22 QX50’s dual touchscreen Infiniti InTouch infotainment system (8 ins. [20-cm] upper, 7 ins. [18-cm] lower) has USB-based Android Auto in addition to wireless Apple CarPlay, which is standard on all ’22 Infiniti models. A Wi-Fi hotspot can support up to seven devices, and Infiniti InTouch Services offer automatic collision notification and emergency call services.

Every QX50 is equipped with advanced ProPilot Assist technology to support the driver during single-lane travel on selected highways. When engaged, ProPilot Assist can help the driver stay centered within their lane, brake or accelerate, Infiniti says.

Other driver-assist technologies, standard on all QX50 grades, are blindspot warning and intervention, lane-departure warning and prevention, forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, predictive forward collision warning, rear automatic braking and rear cross-traffic alert.
