Magna South Carolina Plant to Supply BMW With Seats
Magna will create a total of 610 jobs at the 255,000-sq.-ft. facility, which will supply seats for BMW X models built elsewhere in Spartanburg County.

Magna will supply seats to BMW Group for the first time with the opening of a seat-manufacturing facility in Spartanburg County, SC.
At the March 26 grand opening, Magna also announced an expansion of the plant, which will add 25,000 sq.-ft. (2,325 sq.-m) and an additional 130 jobs.
The company will create a total of 610 jobs at the 255,000-sq.-ft. (23,715 sq.-m) facility, which will supply seats for BMW X5, X6 and X7 models built nearby starting this summer with the rollout continuing into next year.
“Today represents an exciting step forward in the growth and development of our business in North America,” Burge Young, vice president-operations for Magna Seating, says in a news release.
“We have a strong leadership team and a highly skilled workforce which is dedicated to world-class manufacturing and has a clear mission: to be the premier seat supplier to our customers here in South Carolina and around the world.”
Magna has three other manufacturing locations and employs about 1,450 people in South Carolina. The company has 335 manufacturing operations and 96 product development, engineering and sales centers in 28 countries.
