MADRID – Following the launch of the Peugeot 508 sedan and SW models in the spring, PSA Peugeot Citroen announces the RXH diesel hybrid, which will expand the 508 range.

The 2.0L Hdi FAF HYbrid4 200-hp engine will propel the new model, which debuts at the Frankfurt auto show in September. The 508 RXH, with 4-wheel drive, can run in 100% electric mode, a plus in navigating crowded cities, with mixed-cycle fuel consumption of 56 mpg (4.2 L/100 km), resulting in carbon-dioxide emissions of 109 g/km, the equivalent of 56.2 mpg.

Peugeot 508 RXH next step in auto maker’s hybrid technology.

PSA launched the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 earlier this year and says the 508 RXH is the next step in its hybrid technology.

The luxury character of the new model is enhanced by an interior dressed with quality materials.

The 508 RXH also features a remote starter, power front seats, 18-in. light-alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, side windows in laminated and tinted glass with acoustical treatment, and wireless and navigation systems.

The vehicle body is wider, taller and highlighted by a floating grille. The auto maker says the light-emitting-diode front-position lamps suggest three vertical paws; perhaps reminding the Peugeot logo is a lion.
