The Stop in Food Store No. 67 in Charlottesville, Va. becomes the 1,900th fuel station in the U.S. to offer E85, a blend of ethanol and gasoline.
At this time last year, there only were 1,430 E85 stations.
The station, which boasts two E85 and two biodiesel pumps, is being recognized this week by the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, which promotes the use of the alternative fuel.
“It’s encouraging to see the number of E85 stations continue to grow, even as we deal with issues relating to testing lab certifications and the low price of gasoline,” says NEVC Executive Director Phil Lampert.
“The NEVC and all our national partners look forward to working with the Obama Admin. and Congress to continue to advance the role of ethanol in reducing our nation’s dependence on imported petroleum.”
The Charlottesville facility was assisted with funds granted through the Virginia Clean Cities Coalition.
