VW Poland to Launch Output of 1.6L Common-Rail Diesels

VW Motor Polska, which currently employs some 1,100 workers, will continue to produce 1.9L TDI diesel engines, as well.

VIENNA – Volkswagen Motor Polska Sp. z o.o., Volkswagen AG’s engine plant based in Polkowice, Poland, will begin serial production of 1.6L 4-cyl. common-rail diesel engines next week.

Production of components for the engines already began last year.

VW Motor Polska, which currently employs some 1,100 workers, will continue to produce 1.9L TDI diesel engines, as well.

Meanwhile, Christian Bleiel, former head of production at Volkswagen’s engine plant in Salzgitter, Germany, has been appointed managing director of VW Motor Polska.

He succeeds Andreas Klinge, who returns to VW in Germany to take a senior leadership position, with responsibility for component production outside of Europe.
