Pricing for Jeep’s new Cherokee begins at $22,995, $400 less than the base price of the outgoing Liberty it replaces.
Chrysler announces pricing for the SUV this week in the lead-up to the model’s debut in the year’s third quarter.
The base price nets a Sport model with 2-wheel-drive capability and a 2.4L Multi-Air engine, also used in the Dodge Dart, mated with a ZF-designed 9-speed transmission. Adding a 4-wheel drive raises the sticker to $24,995.
Latitude and Limited trims range from $24,495 to $29,995, the latter being the Cherokee’s most expensive base-priced model. An off-road Trailhawk package stickers at $29,945.
Limited, Latitude and Trailhawk packages have the option of adding Chrysler’s new 3.2L Pentastar V-6 also mated with the new 9-speed transmission.
Optional equipment includes a parallel and perpendicular park-assist function, a first for the Chrysler group; a rear-axle disconnect system that senses various road conditions; a rearview camera; and panoramic sunroof.
Prices do not include a $995 destination charge.
