Kia Motors Corp. will introduce a new EcoDynamics sub-brand of vehicles at this month’s Frankfurt motor show, identifying the most eco-friendly versions within each model range, a Kia spokesman tells Ward’s.
The EcoDynamics models will feature various high-fuel economy and low-emissions technologies, including stop-and-go systems for use in congested city driving.
Other features of the sub-brand vehicles include a power-saving alternator-management system and low-rolling resistance Michelin SA tires.
Kia says it will continue to add fuel-saving, emissions-reducing technologies to the new sub-brand, including aerodynamic body styling, alternative-fuel systems, high-efficiency transmissions and hybrid, electric and fuel cell-powered vehicles.

The Forte LPI Hybrid, which went on sale in Korea this year, will participate in an extensive road-testing program in Europe in 2010. It is equipped with the same 1.6L liquefied petroleum gas engine as the Korean version. A fleet of 36 vehicles will be leased in the region to test the feasibility of large-scale commercialization.
The Cee’d Hybrid will feature a powertrain similar to the Forte LPI Hybrid except it will utilize a 1.6L gasoline engine.
The Sorento Hybrid features Kia’s all-new U2 1.6L diesel mill fitted with twin-turbochargers that generates 161 hp and is mated to an electric motor. Power is passed to the front wheels through a new double-clutch fully automatic transmission that also permits manual sequential gear changes.
