Honda of America Mfg. Inc. becomes the latest auto maker to boost production to address shrinking new-vehicle stocks.

Honda reportedly is assigning employees at its Lincoln, AL, plant to work overtime on three Saturdays in September and October.

Workers at its East Liberty, OH, facility will work an undetermined number of Saturdays, The Wall Street Journal says.

Honda builds the CR-V and Element cross/utility vehicles at East Liberty, while Lincoln assembles the Honda Odyssey minivan, Honda Pilot CUV, Honda Ridgeline compact pickup truck and Accord midsize car.

Ward’s data show Honda’s car production at East Liberty was down 93.1% through July, due to the discontinuation of the Civic line there, while light-truck builds rose 10.6% in the period. Light-truck output at Lincoln fell 54.6% in the year’s first seven months. Assembly of the Accord was launched at Lincoln in July, with 1,037 units built in the month.
