MODENA, Italy – Maserati adds two new trim levels to the refreshed Quattroporte in pictures just published by the luxury Italian automaker.

Luxury and sportiness rank high on the wish lists of customers for the 4-door touring sedan, prompting the launch of the new GranLusso and GranSport trims to be offered as optional upgrades across the range but as standard choices on the range-topping Quattroporte GTS model.

In just over 3½ years of production, Maserati has sold more than 24,000 Quattroportes worldwide despite a price tag around $100,000.

Exterior changes include new matte-finish bumper design, a more imposing grille and matte-black side skirts and exterior mirrors.

An electrically adjustable air shutter fitted in the grille boosts cooling and, together with the new front and rear bumpers, air conveyor and flat bottom, aerodynamics are improved 10%.

Inside a redesigned central dashboard houses a high-resolution 8.4-in. (21.3-cm) screen with multi-touch function. The lower console features a rotary control for volume and function control and a phone-storage compartment.

A new infotainment system is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone functions.

Optional advanced driver-assistance systems include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning with advanced brake assist, automated emergency braking and a new surround-view camera.

All Quattroporte models now are equipped with an air-quality sensor, which combines an intelligent sensor and a signal-analysis system calculating external pollution levels to prevent dirty air and toxic gases from entering the cabin.

GranLusso Conveys Comfort , GranSport Speaks Speed

Maserati bills the GranLusso trim as offering a higher level of luxury using exclusive materials and featuring a new front lower fascia, with a floating bridge element, “delicate” body-colored spoiler and a chrome body-color bumper. Its exterior also features side skirts and 20-in. Mercurio alloy wheels with brake calipers painted black.

In the cabin, the GranLusso reflects the Ermenegildo Zegna Edition interior that features patented silk fabric on the seats, doors, headliner and sun visors. Other cabin refinements include open-pore Radica wood on the dashboard and a leather steering wheel with wooden inserts.

Comfort-oriented equipment includes power foot pedals, electric rear sunblind, 4-zone air conditioning, heated rear seats and keyless entry.

For customers wanting a sportier look the GranSport trim has restyled center and side air intakes, and a lowered fascia linked to the grille with aerodynamic splits, while the rear end emphasizes a center fuselage and two side pockets to bring attention to the exhausts. An aggressive piano black spoiler completes the rear view.

It is fitted with 21-in. Titano wheels, a glossy black finish on the bumpers, red brake calipers and blue inserts in the front Trident and side Saetta badge as well as blue Tridents on the wheel centers. As an option, the grille can be ordered in a glossy black finish.

The interior of the GranSport includes redesigned sports seats with sculptured profiles, new sport steering wheel in carbon fiber or full leather trim, high-gloss piano-black wood trim, aluminum gearshift paddles and stainless-steel sport pedals.

An optional Exterior Carbon Pack features carbon-fiber external mirrors, door handles, B-pillar covers and front bumper.

Choice of Three Potent Powerplants

Powerplants start with the Quattroporte diesel, a turbocharged 3.0L V-6 producing 275 hp and 443 lb.-ft. (600 Nm) of torque and able to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.4 seconds on the way to a top speed of 156 mph (251 km/h).

The range then steps up to the Ferrari-built 3.0L V-6 twin turbo in the rear-wheel-drive Quattroporte S, making 410 hp and 406 lb.-ft. (550 Nm) of torque delivering the 0-62 mph sprint in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 178 mph (287 mph).

The range-topping RWD Quattroporte GTS comes with another Ferrari-crafted engine, a 3.8L V-8 twin turbo turning out 530 hp and peak torque of 524 lb.-ft. (710 Nm), enough to propel the car to 192 mph (309 km/h) while sprinting to 62 mph in just 4.7 seconds.

All versions of the Quattroporte are fitted with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission and electronically controlled Skyhook shock absorbers.

U.K. prices including taxes range from $100,492 for the Quattroporte Diesel to $165,296 for the Quattroporte GTS.
