Mazda North American Operations says the all-new CX-9 large cross/utility vehicle will start at $29,035 when it goes on sale next month in the U.S.

The price is for a front-wheel-drive Sport model, Mazda says. Three trim levels: Sport, Touring and Grand Touring, are offered on the 7-passenger CX-9, as are FWD and all-wheel-drive variants, the auto maker says.

The first shipment of CX-9s departed the Port of Hiroshima Dec. 12, Mazda says, on their way to the Port of Tacoma in Washington and the Port of National City in California.
