DC, Tiriac Holdings to Establish Import JV in Romania

The newly formed DaimlerChrysler Automotive Romania will take over sales of all DC brands effective Jan. 1.

VIENNA – DaimlerChrysler AG and Tiriac Holdings, the Romanian importer of DaimlerChrysler vehicles, will form a joint venture for sales and marketing of Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Fuso brands.

The newly formed DaimlerChrysler Automotive Romania Srl will take over sales of all DC brands effective Jan. 1. The JV will be 51% owned by DaimlerChrysler and 49% by Tiriac Holdings.

Tiriac Auto Group has acted as the general distributor of Mercedes vehicles in Romania since 1991. It later added other DC brands to its portfolio. Its staff of about 130 workers will receive offers of employment from DaimlerChrysler Automotive Romania.

Tiriac sold 1,407 DC vehicles in the year's first eight months, including 1,089 Mercedes, 30 Smarts, 103 Chryslers, 25 Dodges and 160 Jeeps.

Tiriac also is the Romanian importer for Ford, Mazda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Hyundai and Mitsubishi brands.
