LOS ANGELES – Mercedes-Benz announces its new EQC400 4Matic will carry a manufacturer suggested retail price of $67,900 when sales of the electric-powered SUV get under way in North America in early 2020.

The official pricing positions Mercedes-Benz’s first dedicated EV $6,900 below the $74,800 MSRP of the Audi e-tron quattro and $13,100 below that of the Telsa Model X.

The EQC is based on the recently facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLC but receives a heavily restyled body with unique exterior elements and a largely bespoke interior (pictured below) featuring the German car maker’s new MBUX operating system.

Already on sale in Europe, the all-wheel-drive EQC400 4Matic is powered by two electric motors with a combined output of 402 hp and 561 lb.-ft. (761 Nm) of torque. It is claimed to accelerate from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.1 seconds and reach a limited top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h).

An 80-kWh lithium-ion battery provides the new model with a claimed EPA range of 220 miles (354 km).

The EQC will be offered in the U.S. with a choice of three different trim and equipment levels: Progressive, Premium and Advanced.
