Mercedes-Benz gives the CLA and Mercedes-AMG CLA compact coupes a midcycle refresh for 2024, with exterior styling changes, upgraded tech and a mild-hybrid propulsion system.
The CLA receives a redesigned front fascia and radiator grille with star pattern, as well as a new rear diffuser. The LED high-performance headlamps and LED taillamps feature modernized graphics.
Inside the ’24 CLA are free-standing dual screens – a standard 10.25-in. (26-cm) digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-in. multimedia display. The latest generation of the automaker’s MBUX infotainment system features newly designed display styles and wireless smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The optional Burmester surround-sound system now features immersive Dolby Atmos audio technology.
The mild-hybrid gasoline 4-cyl. is equipped standard with an additional 48V on-board power supply. The new belt-driven starter-generator improves customer comfort by enabling low-vibration and low-noise engine startup as well as coasting with the combustion engine switched off, Mercedes-Benz says. Peak output is 221 hp.
Both ’24 AMG CLA models receive an AMG-specific radiator grille with vertical slats, reshaped front fascia and round badge with AMG emblem, as well as a revised design of the inside of the LED headlights and LED taillights.
The Mercedes-AMG CLA models offer the new AMG Performance steering wheel with double-spoke design and integrated AMG Drive Unit buttons as standard (pictured, below).

The AMG CLA 45 S sees its power output elevated by 34 hp to 416 hp, allowing 0-60 mph (97 km/h) acceleration in 4.0 seconds.
The AMG CLA 45 S is available with a new AMG Aerodynamics Package Plus, which includes a fixed rear spoiler. This generates negative lift force at the rear axle and improves handling at high speeds.
The 302-hp AMG CLA 35 is now equipped with a 48V electrical system and a belt-driven starter-generator. The second-generation starter-generator acts as a mild hybrid system, providing a temporary power boost of 13 hp as well as supporting functions such as coasting and recuperation for greater efficiency.
Pricing and fuel-economy ratings will be released closer to the CLA models’ release date, expected later this year.
