Mitsubishi Motors Corp. reportedly will supply its Pajero SUV to Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. in Japan in an expansion of the two auto makers’ relationship.

Mitsubishi already supplies Nissan with three 0.6L minivehicles in Japan and now will provide about 4,000 Pajeros starting in the fall, Reuters says.

Nissan is set to build a light commercial vehicle for Mitsubishi, also beginning later in the year, and today the two OEMs say they will continue to look at more joint LCV development and production.

Nissan, which also receives minivehicles from Suzuki Motor Corp. as it does not build its own, saw its minivehicle sales jump 15.8% last year in Japan, to 126,821 units, Ward’s data show.
