Nissan North America Inc. announces pricing for its new Versa subcompact hatchback, going on sale today at U.S. dealers.

The base S model, which has Versa’s standard 122-hp 1.8L 4-cyl. engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, starts at $12,450, Nissan says.

Other Versa trims include the S trim with a 4-speed automatic transmission, which will be available at a later date and begin at $13,250; a Versa SL with 6-speed manual is $14,450; and the top-end Versa SL with a continuously variable transmission starts at $15,450.

The S trim comes standard with six airbags and 60/40 fold-down rear split seats, while buyers choosing Versa’s SL trim get 15-in. aluminum alloy wheels, in-dash 6-disc CD changer with an auxiliary jack for an MP3 player and remote keyless entry.
