Standards are keys to trade, not regulations

"Fewer standards harmonized around the world, whether regulatory or non-regulatory, are the key to trade," says Keith B. Termaat, Ford's strategic standardization manager, at the recent Society of Automotive Engineers' 1995 Global Vehicle Development Conference in Dearborn, MI. Mr. Termaat says each new standard should displace dozens of existing standards to remove the burden of redundant requirements.
