MADRID – SEAT is preparing to launch a revamped Exeo range following its debut at next week’s Frankfurt auto show.

The auto maker says the ’12 Exeo has a more stylized front end and a new interior, and the TDI diesel engine offers improved fuel efficiency with reduced carbon-dioxide emissions.

The common-rail, direct-injection TDI engine in the basic version of the Exeo produces 129 g/km of carbon-dioxide emissions, and 132 g/km in the larger Exeo ST.

Fuel efficiency is rated at 54.3 mpg (4.3 L/100 km () for the base Exeo and 53.3 mpg (4.4 L/100 km) for the diesel ST version. Start/stop technology helps account for improved fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions.

A multitronic transmission with steering-wheel shift paddles is offered as an alternative to the manual gearbox on the 2.0L TDI (143 hp) and gasoline-fueled 2.0L TSI (200 hp).

The ’12 Exeo sedan and station wagon both feature a redesigned front end distinguished by lighting: integrated daytime running lights using energy-saving light-emitting diodes in front, and LED lights at the rear. Bi-xenon headlamps adopting the “arrow” theme characteristic of SEAT design are optional.

Seven airbags are standard on the ’12 Exeo. Also standard are an electronic stability-control system with antilock brakes and electronic brake-force distribution.
