BERLINCzech Republic automaker Skoda releases the first interior pictures of its new large SUV ahead of its global unveiling Thursday, Sept. 1, in Germany.

The Skoda Kodiaq claims the largest trunk capacity in its class and will come with the option of five or seven seats.

The uncluttered dash is divided into two symmetrical zones for driver and passenger. Four large vertically positioned air vents dominate the visual impact as the middle ones flank an onboard monitor. The automaker describes the monitor as logical, intuitive and simple.

Skoda promises superior comfort with seats made of high-quality materials.

The Kodiaq is 185 ins. (4,700 mm) long and 74 ins. (1,880 mm) wide and is the first Skoda available with seven seats. Flexible seating and cargo requirements are enhanced by longitudinally adjustable reclining seats.

With a volume of 720L, or 2,065L with the rear seats folded, the 5-seater claims the largest cargo hold in its class.

Skoda says the Kodiaq features more than 30 of its branded “Simply Clever” solutions, such as door-edge protection, electric child-safety locks and sleep headrests.

Skoda, a Volkswagen subsidiary, broadcast the Kodiaq’s launch with film, music and choreography live on the Internet at 1 p.m. EST Thursday.
