Revamped Skoda Superb on Docket for Shanghai Show
The modernized Superb boasts the brand’s new design language, with revised grille, badging, lighting, bumpers, front fenders and hood.
VIENNA – Skoda Auto will unveil a facelifted version of its Superb flagship at the Shanghai auto show this month.
Both the new Superb sedan and Combi wagon will celebrate their world premieres April 19, the eve of the show opening.
The modernized models, boasting the brand’s new design language, will be launched in European markets at the end of June.
The Superb’s grille, badging, headlights, fog lights, bumpers, front fenders and hood are new. The rear also has been completely redesigned with taillights emphasizing the Volkswagen brand’s familiar C-shape.
The car will continue to be available with 4-wheel drive and offer several powerplants, including 1.4L, 1.8L, 2.0L and 3.6L gasoline engines, as well as 1.6L and 2.0L diesels. The portfolio stretches from the 103-hp 1.6L TDI diesel to the 256-hp 3.6L FSI gasoline V-6.
Skoda launched the first-generation Superb in 2001. Production of the current second-generation model began in 2008, with the wagon added in 2009.
Output was launched in China in 2009. The car also is assembled in other countries.
Last year, 106,847 Superb sedans and wagons were manufactured, including 40,913 units in China.
