Czech automaker Skoda releases the first renderings of a compact CUV aimed at the lucrative emerging market in India.
Based on a modified platform for the Skoda Kodiaq, the new Skoda Vision IN will debut next month at Auto Expo 2020 in New Delhi. At the moment it’s a 14-ft. (4.3-m) -long concept study as the forerunner of a vehicle designed especially for the Indian market. Production is due to start early this year.
The first design sketches released show a wide hood, a large branded grille with solid ribs and split headlights. Beneath is a rugged front apron with large side air intakes and a front spoiler made of aluminum.
At the rear are 3D rear lights and an additional horizontal light strip connecting the reflectors. Illuminated Skoda lettering is prominently positioned in the center of the rear and an aluminum diffuser is integrated into the rear apron underneath.
The vehicle is first among a family of cars Volkswagen Group will build for the Indian market, and will employ the same MQB A0 IN variant of the Modular Transverse Matrix architecture which Skoda is developing.
