Adobe's Mike Morel is hoping to sell auto makers on a system that makes Portable Document Format (PDF) files from computer-aided-design data for easy production of press, training and marketing materials.

In addition, PDF versions of a part or vehicle could be sent to non-technical suppliers, such as ad agencies being asked to promote a product.

Among the security tricks Adobe offers: PDF files that only can be seen by the intended recipient, files that disappear after a certain time and files that can be erased from afar.
