Sustainable Mobility Focus of New Mahle R&D Center
About 250 employees will work at the center in Valencia, Spain, developing new products including power electronics and software solutions such as electric drive systems and auxiliary components, and heating and cooling systems.
Automotive electronics specialist Mahle opens a new R&D center in Spain concentrating on sustainable mobility solutions.
About 250 employees will work at the center in Valencia developing new products including power electronics and software solutions such as electric drive systems and auxiliary components, charge management systems and heating and cooling systems.
Another area of focus will be the assessment and testing of systems to comply with automotive industry standards.
To keep pace with the advance of electrification in automobiles, Mahle has combined its activities relating to electric drives, actuators and auxiliaries, as well as control and power electronics, into its Mechatronics division. These products are destined for use in passenger cars, commercial vehicles and off-highway vehicles.
“As a creator of new and climate-friendly mobility solutions, we believe that the ongoing development of e-mobility is crucial,” says Jörg Stratmann, Mahle’s chairman of the management board and CEO. “With our new research and development center, we’re strengthening our competence in the area of power electronics and consistently working toward our goal of becoming a holistic systems supplier in this field.”
In 2017, the Mahle Group generated sales of €12.8 billion ($14.6 billion) with 78,000 employees and is represented in more than 30 countries with 170 production locations. It now has 16 R&D centers in Germany, U.K., Luxembourg, Spain, Slovenia, U.S., Brazil, Japan, China and India, with some 6,100 development engineers and technicians working on mobility solutions.
