Stellantis extends investment into AI solutions for future consumer services and production processes.

Stellantis is pushing forward its artificial intelligence ambitions, employing the technology both in vehicle production processes and the in-car user experience for consumers.

It announces it is deepening its yearlong collaboration with French AI specialist, Mistral AI, using large language models (LLMs) and AI-driven automation across the Stellantis group to improve data analysis, aiming to streamline development and enhance customer interaction.

The companies’ latest initiative, a next-generation AI-powered in-car assistant, claims to provide natural, conversational in-cabin interactions as a voice-enabled user manual for drivers.

This assistant functions in real-time and customers will be able to ask questions about vehicle features, troubleshooting or warning indicators and receive immediate guidance. It will be continuously updated and adaptable to Stellantis brands and models, delivering a seamless and intuitive experience.

In terms of production processes, the two companies are exploring several potential areas for applying AI solutions including in complex component databases, and a chatbot for company product data to help engineers identify, compare and optimize part selections to boost global reuse and efficiency.

Ned Curic, Stellantis chief engineering and technology officer, says: “There are many players in the AI space and we’re particularly happy to partner with Mistral AI for its strong ability to adapt quickly and drive meaningful results in a highly collaborative way. Together, we are exploring AI’s potential across several domains to enhance our product development, customer experience and deliver real benefits.”
