No.2 Subaru ad highlights safety after parents stop kids from ill-advised stunts.

Two Subaru commercials that speak to protective parents in very different ways take the two top spots in the Most Engaging Auto Ads rankings, powered for WardsAuto by iSpot.tv.

Rising from fifth place to first place is a Subaru ad that shows distraught young people who have just had car accidents calling their parents to break the news to them. On screen are the words: “It’s okay. This is why parents choose a Subaru.”

New to the rankings at No. 2 is another ad from Subaru that takes a gently humorous approach to the same safety theme, showing weary parents stopping their kids from doing potentially destructive things. Both commercials originally launched in August and got a fresh round of airings from Subaru over the past week.

Last week’s No. 1, a Toyota ad set to Lesley Gore’s 1963 hit “You Don't Own Me,” slips to fourth place, while older commercials from Ford and Jeep hang on at No.3 and No.5, respectively.
