TRAVERSE CITY, MI – General Motors Corp. purchasing chief Bo Andersson gives a firm “no comment” when asked for his reaction to a published report American Axle & Mfg. Inc. CEO Dick Dauch might be interested in purchasing some of Delphi Corp.’s operations.
Dauch started American Axle by taking over and turning around several large and very troubled GM manufacturing operations.
“I cannot comment on that,” Andersson tells Ward’s, following a panel discussion on Thursday.
“It’s great. We will support Delphi in the sale of their assets, but I don’t want to go there.”
He also ducks questions about whether GM might shift work from Delphi to other suppliers for cost reasons or as a means of reducing the impact of a possible labor strike.
“The focus just now, as Rick (Wagoner, GM CEO,) said, is to work with Delphi to help in the restructuring, and we are jointly working between Delphi, ourselves and the UAW,” Andersson says.
