Tier 1 supplier Bosch is joining forces with Amazon Web Services to offer a new logistics marketplace and digital service to the transportation industry.
The collaboration marks the latest move in Bosch’s continued evolution toward becoming a leading automotive software and services supplier.
Under the tie-up, Bosch will develop the logistics software – the core of which will be a digital marketplace for various services – and AWS will provide the access to these services through its cloud network.
The platform will allow customers to maximize their use of various digital services seamlessly without having to set up their own custom and cost-intensive IT networks, the partners say.
The marketplace will be open to all digital logistics service provides, Bosch says. It will launch in Europe, India and the U.S. later this year.
Global logistics for nearly every industry have been strained in recent years due to impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the increase in online purchasing. Bosch says global goods transport will grow another 40% by 2030, further taxing the logistics infrastructure – and creating the business opportunity Bosch and AWS are looking to capitalize on.
“The digital marketplace will enable logistics customers to quickly transform their business into a fully digital end-to-end value chain,” Kathrin Renz, vice president-Business Development and Industries for AWS, says in a statement. “Customers will benefit from the tools, frameworks, and modules we offer for digitalization, in addition to improving the sustainability of their transportation processes.”
Says Sandeep Nelamangala, executive director and executive sponsor of logistics platform business at Bosch, “We aim to ring in the future of the (logistics) industry and drive forward its digitalization.”
