Delphi Corp. has developed a new version of its Quadrasteer 4-wheel steering system for European cars.
The system is designed to give European sport and luxury cars dynamic handling coupled with active safety management, executives say.
For North America, Quadrasteer is on seven to nine vehicles now, with more coming — all longer-wheelbase trucks, the supplier says.
Delphi has shown the car version of the system to some OEMs but has no purchase orders yet. Executives say it could show up on European vehicles first and then migrate to cars in the U.S. in three or four years.
