Wraps come off Alpine's vision of what its second BEV sports model will look like.

Renault’s sport and race brand, Alpine, unveils the A390_β concept battery-electric fastback it says is 85% true to the future production model.

The car follows the Alpine A290 hot-hatchback BEV and precedes a planned future electric version of its sports/track-day A110 model.

It’s a 5-seat fastback sports model boasting flowing lines that the brand’s designers describe as a “monolithic bubble” offering a balance between function and aerodynamics.

Other aero features include a frontal “flying bridge” that aids airflow over the upper part of the vehicle. A micro-perforated grille guides the air while wide side scoops create an air curtain to accelerate the natural flow.

Its rear shark fin echoes those of the Alpine racing cars of the Le Mans 24 Hours. A rear diffuser boasts an illuminated light strip that can be extended or retracted by 3.1 ins. (8 cm), enabling the A390_β to transform from a ‘short-tail’ to a ‘long-tail’ profile. This ability to extend reduces the aerodynamic drag coefficient and can improve the vehicle's operating range.

This concept sports Alpine’s blue color with actively moving paint particles vibrate with movement. The tint oscillates between bright, light-catching blues and deeper shades to accentuate the car's lines.

Philippe Krief, Alpine CEO, says: “The duality between the racing spirit and the refinement of this show car embodies the performance and driving experience that we will deliver from 2025 onwards in our production vehicle, produced in France at the historic Dieppe Manufacture. More than the promise of a 100% Alpine experience, it's a genuine commitment.”
