The flagship of General Motors’ GMC brand, the Yukon, is being retooled for the 2025 model year with major technology upgrades, a revamped exterior and refreshed interior design with new safety features, the automaker says.

“Following the all-new GMC Acadia and next-gen GMC Terrain, the addition of the updated 2025 GMC Yukon completes GMC’s reimagined SUV lineup,” says Duncan Aldred, global vice president of Buick and GMC.

Yukon also receives the first-ever AT4 Ultimate trim, timed to celebrate the fifth anniversary of GMC’s AT4 sub-brand.  Says Aldred, “We’re raising the bar on what our customers expect from GMC’s flagship, and the addition of the AT4 Ultimate trim fuses ruggedness and capability with craftsmanship and refinement.”

Also available across the lineup, including on AT4 and AT4 Ultimate for the first time, is a 3.0L Duramax turbodiesel engine option offering customers 305 hp and 495 lb.-ft. (671 Nm) of torque, according to GMC.

The standard powertrain in the 2025 Yukon is a 6.2L V-8 delivering 420 hp and 460 lb.-ft. (624 Nm) of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The 2025 Yukon’s interior offers a mix of luxury and technology to support the driver and passenger experience, GM says. The centerpiece of the cabin is a 16.8-in. (43-cm) Premium GMC Infotainment Center with a vertical interface, which allows users to customize the integration of maps, audio inputs, vehicle diagnostics and more into a diagonal screen display. The addition of an available 8-in. (20-cm) rear climate control touchscreen enhances comfort for passengers.

New interior wood décor features open-pore, laser-etched topographical patterns. A Bose Performance Series sound system with up to 22 speakers, including stainless-steel head restraint speakers in the front row and optional second-row executive seating, delivers a premium, personalized cabin acoustic experience.

The Yukon’s exterior is distinguished by unique grille patterns, liftgate badging, and animated headlamps and taillamps. An available panoramic sunroof delivers an open-air cabin experience.

The fullsize SUV also offers customers added design options and upgraded technology on both the Denali Ultimate and AT4 Ultimate trims, including the Denali Ultimate with exclusive 24-in., 8-spoke machined wheels with laser etching and 16-way power heated and ventilated massaging front seats and captain’s chairs in the second row.

A front skid plate and 20-in. wheels with all-terrain tires are available on the AT4, along with four-corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension that can raise the vehicle up to 2 ins. (51 mm) to improve ground clearance when off-road.

A hands-free liftgate automatically opens in the presence of the key fob.

The 2025 Yukon also features available Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free advanced driver-assistance system with an operating domain that is expected to grow to 750,000 miles (1.21 million km) of roads in the U.S. and Canada by the end of 2025.

Yukon owners with Super Cruise will be able to experience what GM says is the industry’s first and only hands-free trailering technology.

The 2025 Yukon offers a towing capability of up to 8,400 lbs. (3,810 kg) and blind zone steering assist that can alert drivers and provide a brief, firm turn of the steering wheel when a potential crash is detected with a moving vehicle in a side blind zone that is extended to trailer lengths.

An enhanced suite of advanced technology, safety and driver-assistance features includes available Night Vision – enabling customers to drive more confidently in low-light environments. Thermal object detection helps identify pedestrians and animals by alerting drivers via the head-up display and driver information center.

The 2025 GMC Yukon will be produced at GM’s assembly plant in Arlington, TX, and is expected to be available by the end of 2024.
