Leapmotor C10 REEV aims to attract consumers with the security of an ICE power backup system.

Stellantis's joint venture company, Leapmotor International, brings its first range-extender battery-electric vehicle to Europe this month with the C10 debut at the 101st Brussels auto show.

The vehicle’s introduction recognizes European Union consumers’ continuing reluctance to switch to pure BEVs by providing a gasoline generator to claim an overall driving range of about 600 miles (966 km).

Leapmotor’s C10 REEV (range-extender electric vehicle) is equipped with a 215-hp electric motor and a 1.5L internal-combustion engine.

Its comparatively small 28.4-kWh battery pack claims a driving range of 90 urban miles (145 km) on Europe’s WLTP rating, while its combined fuel consumption is rated at 588 mpg (US) with CO2 emissions of 10 g/km.

The drivetrain is powered exclusively by the electric motor which receives energy from the ICE generator when the battery pack runs low.

Users can select their preferred driving mode through the main screen including options to prioritize electric driving.

The C10 REEV supports both AC and DC fast charging capability of 65kW, which claims to provide half of its urban electric range in 18 minutes.
