Leapmotor's Global Debut of New BEV Model Range at Paris Motor Show
Stellantis' Chinese partner to add new C-segment SUV to 'affordable' BEVs being sold through automaker's European dealer network.
Stellantis’ Chinese partner in its Leapmotor International joint venture will present the global debut of a new model range at next week’s Paris Motor Show 2024.
Leapmotor will unveil the first of a C-segment battery-electric SUV in the shape of the B10 aiming to add to the offering brought to Europe, the T03 city car and the C10 D-segment SUV, currently being marketed through the Stellantis dealer network.
This is seen as an expansion of the two automakers’ JV in European markets and promises affordable BEV products even within the new punitive tariffs imposed against subsidized vehicles imported from China.
A Stellantis company statement says the move is part of “key steps on its roadmap (that) have been reached in just less than a year since it was formed, concurrent with Stellantis investing €1.5 billion ($1.64 billion) to acquire approximately 21% of Leapmotor.”
The pair expect to exploit the advantages of Stellantis’ well-established distribution channels and hope to increase the number of European sales outlets of Leapmotor vehicles to 350 by the end of this year. Leapmotor expects to release at least one new model every year for the next three years.
Beyond European markets, the JV plans further expansion into the Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific and South America from the fourth quarter this year.
