Nissan brings Ariya Nismo compact sporting BEV to Europe.

Nissan releases full powertrain details of its performance battery-electric Ariya e-4ORCE Nismo compact crossover ahead of its entry into European markets beginning in January.

Chief drawing points for performance fanatics is a powertrain claiming 429 hp and a maximum torque output of 440 lb.-ft. (597 Nm) using a 87-kWh battery pack. The combination allows the car to claim a 0-to-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint time in 5 seconds and from 50-70 mph (71-113 km/h) in just 2.4 seconds.

Its all-wheel-drive system has been upgraded to improve traction at high corner speeds by adjusting the power sent to each wheel 10,000 times per second. With a new 60:40 rear bias, the system promotes a sporting feel compared to the regular Ariya e-4ORCE and delivers a 12% improvement in line-tracing performance.

Suspension, too, has been reworked, with revised stabilizers, spring rates and shock absorber settings, to achieve enhanced balance and body control, and greater agility at higher speeds. Retuned steering also adds increased resistance and a more direct feel as speeds rise.

As a BEV, its aerodynamics feature high in performance and range. This Nismo features spoilers and air curtains inspired by Formula E to reduce drag and smooth airflow along the body, while a new front splitter with canard vortices generators, extended lower bumpers, twin diffuser and ducktail rear spoiler generate 40% more down-thrust over the regular Ariya.

It will initially be available in one standard launch of Nismo Stealth Grey, as previously seen on the Nissan GT-R. It will be sold in all European markets where the model is already available, except Cyprus, Malta and Northern Ireland.
