Hot version of the venerable 3.0L sports coupé being teased to gauge consumer demand.

Toyota is considering launching a souped-up special edition Supra in both Japan and Europe claiming the best-ever road-legal performance from the sports coupé.

Its racing wing, Toyota Gazoo Racing, is developing the Supra A90 Final Edition that may arrive at dealerships early next year if the automaker gives the model, limited to just 300 units, the go-ahead for production depending on consumer response.

Outright power of the standard car is boosted up from 382 hp to 429 hp and torque up 369 lb.-ft. (500 Nm) to 420 lb.-ft. (569 Nm) thanks largely to its revised intake air path and a low-back-pressure catalyst adopted to reduce pressure loss.

In lieu of a dry sump system, Toyota adds a baffle plate to the engine oil pan to prevent uneven oil distribution when encountering the high G-forces when cornering.

Cooling performance is also improved to aid engine performance by strengthening the radiator cooling fan, adding a sub-radiator and enlarging the differential gear cover cooling fins.

In line with a new chassis setting, active differential control is tuned to reduce understeer during cornering and improve handling. An Akrapovič titanium muffler has been adopted to aid breathing and exhaust sound.

Its floating 19-in. Brembo front and rear disc brakes are drilled and fitted with high-friction pads to improve performance. Stainless steel mesh brake hoses maximize the performance of the strengthened brake system.

Dampening-adjustable KW suspension from the GR Supra GT4 features 16 rebound stages and 12 compression stages for accommodating a variety of driving conditions. Front and rear stabilizers have been strengthened.

Other suspension aids see strengthened rubber bushings for the front lower arms, pillow ball joints on the front control arms and the same rigid aluminum mount for the rear subframe found on the GR Supra GT4.

A strengthened front-cowl brace and added front-underfloor brace combine with a strengthened rear-underfloor brace structure and a strengthened interior cargo crossbar to increase body rigidity.

Aerodynamic improvements see a carbon-fiber front spoiler, front canards and front center flap to complement a carbon-fiber swan-neck rear wing. An added carbon-fiber hood duct features a removable inner duct for improved cooling performance when removed.

Inside there are Recaro Podium CF carbon-fiber full-bucket seats with Alcantara-covered seat pads.

The steering wheel, door trim, center console kneepad, center armrest, shift knob cover and the center portion of the instrument panel are covered in Alcantara, while red seatbelts and exclusive carbon-fiber scuff plates continue the limited-model appeal.
