The Highlander Sport, which comes standard with a 215-hp V-6 engine, will begin at $27,765 for a base 2-wheel-drive model and reach $30,085 for a 4-wheel-drive model with three rows of seats.
Various exterior and interior styling enhancements to be found on the Highlander Sport include color-keyed grille with chrome insert; chrome door handles (exterior and interior); tilt leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls; and leather-trimmed shift knob with chrome stalk.
Other standard features include an 8-way power driver’s seat and a sport tuned suspension for 4WD models.
Toyota also says it is adding a new base Highlander model that has 4WD and a V-6 engine but only two rows of seats. It will begin at $26,990, some $850 below a comparable model with third-row seating.
Both trims go on sale in late March, Toyota says.
