Toyota Australia Reshuffles Top Management

The first Australian executive to oversee a Lexus division in Japan, Matthew Callachor will play a leading role in developing the luxury brand’s medium to long-term strategy.

Toyota Australia announces senior management changes as a result of international appointments for two local executives.

Matthew Callachor, Toyota Australia executive director-sales and marketing, is named general manager-global Lexus planning division, based at Toyota City, Japan.

Peter Evans, Lexus Australia corporate manager-marketing, becomes project general manager-Toyota brand and product marketing at Toyota Motor Asia Pacific-Marketing and Sales, based in Singapore.

The changes are effective June 1.

Callachor will be involved in the global operation of Lexus and will play a leading role in developing the luxury brand’s medium to long-term strategy.

The first Australian executive to oversee a Lexus division in Japan, he will report to Mark Templin, managing officer and executive vice president-Lexus International.

Tony Cramb, executive director-sales and marketing for Toyota Australia, assumes full responsibility for the Australian sales and marketing operating arm, reporting to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer David Buttner.

Cramb joined the Toyota Australia board in January after three years as CEO of Lexus Australia. He also was a member of the global Lexus executive committee charged with developing Lexus strategy.

Evans’ new role will be to help distributors launch new models and elevate the brand throughout South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan.

Toyota Australia President and CEO Max Yasuda says each of the executives draws on decades of industry experience as they expand their roles in identifying and capitalizing on opportunities for growth.

“These moves highlight the accomplished talent pool in Australia and the ongoing contribution local executives can make at senior levels throughout the corporation,” he says.
