Toyota Sets Pace for New Zealand’s July Sales Surge
New-vehicle sales are up 19.5% after seven months to 58,210 units.
New Zealand’s new-car market remained strong in July, with sales jumping 27.2% to 6,208 units, while commercial-vehicle deliveries improved 17.9% to 2,153.
The Motor Industry Assn. says the latest result showed the country’s new-vehicle sales climbing 19.5% after seven months to 58,210 units.
“The new-vehicle industry continues to outperform other sectors of the economy and has truly shaken off all of the supply problems they faced during 2011,” MIA CEO Perry Kerr says in a statement.
Toyota continued its dominance in July with sales of 1,098 units, comfortably ahead of GM Holden (735) and Ford (628). The commercial segment also was led by Toyota (531), followed by Ford (376) and Nissan (218).
The top sellers for the month were light commercials: the Ford Ranger (330 units) and Toyota Hilux (328). The Holden Captiva cross/utility vehicle was the best-selling passenger car with 261 deliveries, followed by the Suzuki Swift (242) and Toyota Corolla (235).
Toyota led the market after seven months with 11,506 units, trailed by Ford (6,442) and Holden (5,247).
The Japanese auto maker set the pace in new-car sales with 7,658 units, followed by GM Holden (4,674) and Hyundai (4,383). The CV segment saw Toyota on top with 3,848 deliveries and then Ford (2,149) and Nissan (1,713).
