Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. names Bob Carter, currently head of the Lexus Div., as its new group vice president and general manager of the Toyota Div.

Carter replaces Jim Lentz, who was promoted to executive vice president in June, and will be responsible for all Toyota and Scionn sales activities in the U.S.

Filling Carter’s slot atop Lexus is Jim Farley, currently the head of marketing.

Both Carter and Farley will report to Don Esmond, senior vice president-automotive operations.

Toyota says a replacement for Farley, who oversaw the launch of the Scion brand in 2002, will be named in the near future.
