Mitsubishi Ends Smart Forfour Production
The move is part of DaimlerChrysler's restructuring of the Smart brand and will not affect Mitsubishi's earnings or production at the Nedcar plant.

Mitsubishi Motors Corp. reportedly halts production June 30 of the Smart Forfour minicar for DaimlerChrysler AG at its Nedcar BV plant in Born, the Netherlands.
The stoppage is the result of DC’s restructuring of the Smart brand, which now consists of only the Fortwo model. The auto maker announced earlier this week that a second-generation 2-seat Fortwo will go on sale in 2007, with a version for the U.S. market due in 2008.
Moving forward, Mitsubishi will continue to manufacture its Colt small car at the Nedcar facility, with production unaffected by the discontinuation of the Forfour, The Detroit News says.
The Japanese auto maker’s earnings forecast for the year will be unaffected, as well.
