Toyota Ups Truck Output Target

Toyota Motor Corp. says it will begin production of Tacoma pickup trucks in Tijuana, Mexico, late in 2004, ahead of the 2005 target originally set. Toyota Motor Corp. says it will begin production of Tacoma pickup trucks in Tijuana, Mexico, late in 2004, ahead of the 2005 target originally set.

It also will build more of the vehicles — 30,000 annually — 10,000 more than originally planned.

Truck bed production will begin in mid-2004 and continue through the end of the year, when complete vehicle production will commence.

The increased output will add 240 jobs, bringing total employment to 700 workers.
